Felt Hat Making Workshop 5 June 2010 Hatmaking masterclass with feltmaker Sue Johnson.

Graphic Art Holiday Workshop 1st to 3rd June Young people worked with Julian Hanshaw (who's new works are featured in Rye Art Gallery's current exhibition 'Paper\|Art\|See') to create their own, ready to frame, large artwork.

Make a Music Video 1st to 3rd June Young people worked with AudioActive's Jon Clark and Ollie Finn on rap, beatbox and sound technology, culminating in producing a Music Video.

Rother Artists Development Programme Spring 2010 Free workshops on 'Sponsorship', 'Arts Council England funding', making money as an artist and running home based arts businesses.

Urban Playground Team 15th May 2010 Free intensive workshop for young people aged 14 to 19 with the Urban Playground team.

1066 Business Awards 30 April 2010 Recieved award for 'Outstanding Contribution to the Community' . The award was sponsored by Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce.

East Sussex Contemporary Art Fair 23 - 25 April 2010 Rye College fundraiser Art Fair with spectacular 'Bloco Feu' Carnival Performance on Friday night.

Sarah Jane Morris 10 April 2010 A hugely successful first gig for The School Creative Centre, with Sarah Jane Morris captivating the audience with her extraordinary voice. Sarah Jane will be back in December.

Open Day 3 April 2010 A whole day of Open Studios, Community Exhibition, free Taster Workshops, Musical Theatre, Dance and Aerial performances.

Feltmaking Taster Workshop 20 February 2010 Saturday workshop with feltmaker Sue Johnson. People learned the basics of making hand rolled felt and then made a small clutch purse.

An Introduction to Woven Textiles 6 February 2010 A lovely full day workshop with our resident weaver, Simon Young.

Christmas Bizarre 10 - 12 December 2009 An irresistible mix of performance, fantasy and festive craft - to make your christmas shopping an unforgettable experience... Browse through the Hall of Stalls with it's fabulous array of jewellery, ceramics, textiles and other gorgeous gifts from specially selected local designer makers. Over three days our magical menu of performances includes aerialists, opera, rap and pop in a specially created winter wonderland.

2nd STREET Young People's Performance Showcase 9 December 2009 Top artists from AudioActive's Hip Hop Foundation in Brighton including UK DMC finalists Surgical Cuts and Hines (Slip Jam B) ran masterclasses for all levels in Hastings and Rye and culminated in 10 minute Platform Performances.

Masterclasses at The School 10th October 2009 Award winning graphic novelist Julian Hanshaw ran a day long masterclass. a broad range of students learned how to select and visualise the dramatic moments in a story to create their own comic strip. This masterclass is a potential forerunner to a 12 week course to produce a bound collection of illustrated short stories.

Resident's Lunch 7th October 2009 Our bi-monthly lunch for resident artists and companies has become so popular, we have had to move to the function room to accomodate us all! A great opportunity to meet new residents, catch up on the latest news and events.

Hearts and Bones 2 - 4 October 2009 Works on canvas and paper from Surrealist artists Kathleen Fox, Guy Girard and Wedgwood Steventon. Parisian artist Guy Girard was resident at The School through September. He exhibited works created during his residency as well as collaborating with Kathleen and Wedgwood using a joint action painting technique.

Todds Gallery presents At the Seashore of Worlds Paintings by Kate Walters 25 - 27 September 2009 Twice shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize, Cornish artist Kate Walters returned to the area with an exhibition of her latest works presented by Todds Gallery.

Open Studios September 2009 12, 13, 19 and 20 September 2009 A chance to visit the work of our resident painters, illustrators, sculptors, weavers, jewellers and textile artists as part of Coastal Currents Arts Festival. Pluss free taster workshops run by Nick Archer and Danny Pockets.

Kitchen Sink 9, 12, 13, 19 and 20 September 2009 A provocative and exciting multi-media installation curated by Danny Pockets and Nikki Tompsett featuring the work of 20 artists from Sheffield, London and East Sussex.

Acts of Boobiness Jenny Edbrooke 9 September 2009 A performance installation lasting four hours during which time spectators were free to come and go as they wish. The resulting works were on view during Open Studios fortnight.

Aerial Workshop 25, 26 and 27 August 2009 Lorraine Moynehan of What Goes Up introduced participants to aerial work (trapeze, rope, silks). The workshops were both physically challenging and dramatically inspiring, exploring transitions from the floor to higher levels and painted strong visual images in the air.

An exciting range of free activities for young people from 12 to 16 years.

Creative Partnerships Training Day: Introduction to Working in Schools 25 February 2009 Aimed at people in the creative industries that haven't worked inschools. A thorough introduction to working in schools, and the basics of Creative Partnerships practice. The day included; the nuts and bolts of CRB checks and insurance, working in partnership with schools, the challenges of working with young people, plus practical ideas for workshops.
