Rye Arts Festival

11th to 25th September. 2009 highlights included The London Mozart Players - celebrating their Diamond Anniversary, and outstanding young pianist of the moment, Ashley Wass. 2009 was a double anniversary - 200 years since the death of Haydn and the birth of Mendelssohn - and works from both featured in the final concert. The Navarra and the Sacconi Quartets joined forces to play the exuberant Mendelssohn Octet. Comedy and Literature also feature strongly in this annual festival.

Rye Bay Scallop Week

20th to 28th February. A gourmet festival involving many of the local pubs and restaurants running cookery schools, demostrations, competitions and scallop themed celebrations including a 'What a load of Scallops' Race on Sunday 28th February.

RX Wildlife & Culture Festival

A week of family outdoor and wetland activities, exhibitions and guided walks, many of which are free. A great way to discover the coast of East Sussex and Kent.

Coastal Currents Arts Festival

Coastal Currents 2009 focuses on visual arts and moving image work from artists in Hastings and the South East. This year’s theme is ‘Hidden Hastings’ which will peel back the layers of creativity and the unique spaces in the town making hidden Hastings visible and vibrant.

South East Open Studios

Every year in June, artists and craftspeople across south east England open their doors to the public. It is a unique opportunity to meet, talk to and see them at work as part of the South East Open Studio event.
