"Brilliant, moving and inspiring" |

Once again, we have struck gold and promise a night to remember - as Peter Knight and Gigspanner present a programme that defies generalisation.
Having clocked up almost 40 years with Steeleye Span, fiddle player Peter Knight's name and reputation are known to most people with an interest in traditional music. His idiosyncratic style effortlessly traverses several genres and has been an inspiration to many.
Wishing to create an opportunity to explore more fully the areas of music that interest him, peter has created his own trio, Gigspanner, in which he is joined by guitarist Roger Flack and Afro-percussionist Vincent Salzfaas. Together they explore traditional music and its related themes with emotional energy, brilliance and spontaneity.
As musician Andy Letcher (Telling the Bees) observes: "With Gigspanner, Peter Knight has put together a tight trio with which to let his playing fly... Stepping lightly through folk, classical, baroque and jazz, Gigspanner produce music of intelligently crafted brilliance." (Songlines magazine)
The trio recently celebrated their debut CD, Lipreading the Poet, named as one of the Top 15 Global CD's of 2009 by The Wire Magazine - a distinction that is indicative of the outstanding musicianship and commitment to originality that is the hallmark of their performances. Peter also received the Musician of the Year 2010 award, courtesy of the Folk Corporation Acoustic Music Forum.
